Character Writer is the next generation of writing software, combining the power of the Enneagram personality-typing system and the latest Java technology. Character Writer is a cross-platform* software package that offers both the character-generating tools of Character Pro and the story-generating tools QuickStory in one easy-to-user interface.

Create Believable Characters

Let's be honest, although CW offers a story generator and organizer built right in, CW is primarily a character-development environment for your stories. All other story development programs on the market give a half-hearted nod to the process of creating characters. Usually there will be some character component where you fill in a name and favorite color. CW is the only product on the market that starts with character.

Character First

Other writing programs offer minimal character development, allowing you to chose a character role. At Typing Chimp we don't believe in starting with roles. The role shouldn't define the character, the character should define the roles. Instread of starting with eight or fewer types like other software packages, CW starts with 70. There are nine Enneagram types, each has a subtype, then we add different levels of mental health. Once you define these elements, CW generates a full character profile for you as a starting point for building out your unique and complete character. Once your characters are perfect, then go to Story Mode to build out a full story plot.

Generate and Refine Your Story

Character Writer also includes a built in story generator and organizer. Use the Story Generator tab to create your story. (A billion different stories are possible.) Once you've created your basic story structure and story skeleton, you can edit, develop and organize your story until it's perfect.

Plays Well with Others

CW works great with any other program you're using. It includes a "Writing Mode" to keep CW always in the corner to make notes about your characters or keep their traits and behaviors always at your finger tips throughout the story-writing process - no matter where you're writing your story.

You can save your entire Character Writer document (and exchange it with anyone with Character Writer - including the trial version). Or you can save the final profile in Character Pad to RTF format for distribution or to be opened in any word processing program for further formatting. The same goes for the text in your "Full Story" tab in Story Mode.
